Takealot now sells coffins
Just when we thought we have seen it all, South Africa’s leading online store, Takealot, is now selling coffins online.
It was announced on Tuesday afternoon, and some people concluded that the pandemic is far from being over.
The retailer said that the online sale of coffins and caskets is not new and can be seen on large internationals e-commerce platforms such as Amazon.
“The sale of this item will be processed as per any other item listed on our platform, and will be subject to our standard terms per conditions,” he added.
Thabani Ngobese who works for Amathole Funeral, said that they are not shattered by takealot selling coffins because some people do not trust online stores, they rather buy something that is in front of them.
“I do not think that Takealot coffins will impact negative to funeral parlours, people prefer choosing from different kind of coffins, Takealot only have one style,” he said.
Some people were frightened when hearing the news, Olwethu Sithole said that this is a sign that Covid-19 is here to take many lives.
However, the delivery is free but it is non-returnable. They are currently available at Takealot’s Cape Town warehouse and those in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria. For customers in other areas, delivery can take two to seven working days.
