#555- A NEW UPGRADE OF 5FM

The unexpected resignation of Gareth Cliff after a decade on 5FM, caused much speculation and anticipation about the future of the station but the 5FM listeners can look forward to an upgraded line up starting on the 5th of May.
Five FM announced that DJ Fresh will be taking over morning radio from the 5th of May at 5 am (#555), he will be joined by Catherine Grenfall and Duran Collett who are his long standing colleagues from the afternoon drive they hosted previously. The trio will be joined by newbies Carmen Reddy as well as Sol Phenduka. DJ Fresh is excited about both his new move as well as new additions to his team.
“I have always enjoyed doing morning radio and the move back to AM drive is a great opportunity to create content and entertain in a new space.
“With DJ Fresh leaving the PM drive slot. It creates a great opportunity for Roger Goode to inject some of his crazy antics from 4PM In the afternoon,” said Programme Manager Tim Zunckel in a statement.
Roger Goode has been on 5FM for more than 10 years and has grown to be loved and respected by the youth, he will be taking over the afternoon drive slot along with Sias Du Plessis, Vic Naidoo and newcomer Thando Thabethe.
“Finally, they have let me out the basement of the SABC,” said the energetic Roger. “I have had an amazing journey with 5FM and to entertain audiences during the afternoon drive time show is going to be such an epic adventure,” he further added.
Zunckel is as excited about the upgrade as the rest of the 5FM community. “Both drive time DJs are an asset to 5FM. DJ Fresh and Roger Goode will redefine drive time radio and with a new time channel offering 5FM will offer audiences across South Africa a more varied, fast pace and appropriate listening option throughout the day.”

The new members that will join 5fm. DJ Warras and Tumi Voster both former YFM presenters, they will take over the 7-10 evening slot as of 5th May.

The eveining slot from 7-10 pm weekdays will be filled by newcomers to the 5FM family, DJ Warras and Tumi Voster. The pair are both former YFM presenters and will bring quirkiness and a different vibe for the 5FM audience.
“The 5FM brand attracts top personalities who want to work on the biggest youth platform in the coutry,” said Zunckel. He further added that this would be a perfect time for Warras to take his career to the next level.
The new lineup will kick in on the 5th of May and the brand is promoting its upgrade by calling it #555.
