A dark weekend for South Africans as Eskom implements stage 4 load shedding

Eskom has announced that it will implement stage 4 load-shedding from 3pm-10pm on Wednesday. This comes after the power utility implemented stage 2 on Tuesday. The power utility says this is due to the spike in demand
Eskom said cold weather had placed additional demands on country’s grid which was already severely strained because of breakdowns.
In a statement Eskom said, “ Load-shedding will persist throughout the weekend as Eskom teams work around the clock to return as many of these generation units to service as possible.”
Michael Mchunu a tavern owner said this means no business for him this weekend as he does not have a generator to keep the beers cold and to play music at his tavern.
“No one will come to my tavern to drink hot beers and have no music to make them dance while enjoying their stay at the tavern,” Said Mchunu
Eskom further said, “We urge South Africans to help revive electricity usage in order to assist Eskom reduce the instance of load-shedding.”
