Academic programmes suspended at UKZN

The University of KwaZulu-Natal has suspended all academic programmes until further notice.
In a statement on Sunday, the institution said that a decision has been taken to continue the suspension of the academic programme. The suspension includes all UKZN Campuses and Colleges.
“Notice with respect to the re-commencement of the academic programme will be issued in due course, both via an official Registrar Communiqué and on the University website.”
This comes after UKZN students have been involved in a violent strike across all campuses over a historical debt. Protests escalated on Tuesday when students burnt down a lecture hall at the university’s Pietermaritzburg campus.
The University of KwaZulu-Natal and its student representative council are set to meet the Minister of Higher Education Blade Nzimande on Monday to try to resolve the issues that led to the shutdown of academic activities.
Undergraduate and postgraduate students are urged to conclude their registration as soon as possible.
