AFRICA’S FIRST SMARTPHONE

By: Lindokuhle Ndaba
“Zest Mobile is South Africa’s homegrown tech company that is offering unparalleled value through an innovative and never-done-before package”.
These are the words of David Lindeque, the founder and CEO of the company which is to produce the continent’s first smartphone – the Zest T1.
It is certainly exciting times South Africa’s technological development and perhaps even globally. Since the boom of the smartphone era, a great portion of the market share has been dominated by well known brands. However due to them being international brands there are some functions that do not work in our country, therefore depriving consumers of the true and promised experience of their products.
According to David the device is affordable for many South Africans and unparalleled in terms of pricing versus specifications. For him it is about giving as many Africans as possible the opportunity to truly utilize and be empowered by extremely powerful and up-to-date technology.
“The Zest T1, with a vivid 4.5” LCD, runs the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat build and we will be offering regular wireless updates. In addition, the Quad Core 1.3GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM will mean that speed and performance will never be an issue. We also included a high-quality 8MP camera, dual sim functionality and many other incredible features into this device.”
The dual sim functionality is an exciting feature which will come into play as soon as the device is launched. This is due to the data services that will be offered to the Zest T1 buyers. Each owner receives a free sim card which will give them 1GB free mobile data every single month, for 1 year, with no obligations or contracts. The dual sim functionality allows you to use this sim card regardless of what network you’re on taking convenience to the next level.
While the official launch date is set to be in June, the public can enter their details to be put on a pre-order list at www.zestmobile.net. The list does not infer obligation to purchase, it just ensures that you will receive the first chance and be notified about the launch date. For consumers wishing to purchase the device, it will initially only be available for purchase online, either with a debit or credit card, with free 24 hour delivery around South Africa.
Excited about this product, am definitely putting my name down..
WELL DONE!!
I have just finished doing the survey done by Afrihost.com and I am hoping to be the first one to get the phone. It looks beautiful and the features are great.
