AN INFANT FOUND DEAD KWAMAKHUTHA

An infant was found dead near a dam in KwaMakhutha.
According to the residents the baby was found by two children who were playing near the dam.
Phumzile Bhengu, the mother of the child that was playing near the dam, said that she was told by her son that there is a baby floating in a dam.
“The baby was wrapped in a garbage plastic bag, she still had her umbilical cord,” Bhengu said.
The police came to the scene after receiving an emergency call from Bhengu.
Warrant Officer Sanele Sithole from KwaMakhutha police station said that they found a baby floating in the water with her full clothes on.
“Investigations will be done to track down the child’s parents or anyone who might have information regarding the potential suspect,” said Sithole.
He added that two cases have been opened that include murder and child negligence and more will be added if they find the suspect.
Some residents are still in shocked after what has happened in their area.
Thabani Shange said, “Both parents of this baby should face the consequences of being irresponsible. It’s really shocking,” Shange said.
Ward Counselor Sfiso Dlamini said that the children who saw the body of the baby will get counselling because what they saw is depressing and not easy to forget.
“We have teamed up with Bobbi Bear for counseling of the two young boys.
We have hired specialist in phycologist to asses them,” added Dlamini
