Clermont central residents are fuming because the apparent fixing of cables resulted in their household appliances being destroyed on Tuesday.
“Our electricity was fine until the so called technicians came. When one of my neighbours confronted these guys they said they are here to replace old cables,” said the fuming Loretta Mokoena.
“I am very angry because whatever they were doing has damaged my goods. I’m under a lot of stress now because I have to get a new computer, DVD, and a Dstv decoder. What breaks my heart is that some of these appliances, I haven’t finished paying for them,” she added.
“We were told to go and claim in the nearest municipal office. This is a very disturbing moment for everyone who has been affected by this thing. For some of us we lost appliances we use to make a living. My computer has a lot of important documents and losing it has caused a lot of inconvenience,” said Tsiu Mokoena.
Nyameko Zulu said that, from now on they won’t allow anyone to touch their cables. “We will ask for something valid that shows that they are working for Eskom, because we are tired of these Izinyoka stealing our cables,” he concluded.
Cynthia Ndlovu who works at Eskom said that they received quiet a number of complaints but this matter was beyond their hands. She also added that they will still check on whether this is their fault or not
