A 25-year-old suspect was arrested by police for attempted murder, possession of unlicensed
firearm and ammunition on Tuesday, according to a statement released by the Pinetown police.
KwaDabeka Field Unit and Pinetown Tactical Response Team members were on duty when they received information about suspects who are linked with cases of business robberies in
the area of Clermont and KwaDabeka.
One of the suspects ran away and left his firearm that fell down behind.
The second suspect allegedly came out of the house and fired shots at the police and police returned fire and the suspect was injured on his hand.
Two firearms with ammunition were recovered and the suspect was rushed to hospital for medical attention.
The firearms will be sent for ballistic tests to establish whether they were used in the commission of other crimes in the country.
The arrested suspect has been charged for attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and is expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon.
