Bolt app accused of not being safe for women
Women have complained about Bolt drivers abusing them during their rides.
There have been several allegations against bolt drivers abusing their female passengers on social media. Passengers are also complaining that drivers accept trips on behalf of other drivers
Bolt released a media statement stating that the females who have made rape allegations on Twitter against their driver have not spoken to them directly or even complained on the app.
“The driver identified in the media post voluntarily met with Bolt management. It shows that he was not driving the vehicle that is in the post and has not driven the car since August 2019,” explained Bolt in a statement. Moreover Bolt said investigations are ongoing regarding such matters.
We took it to the streets to ask a few people about how they feel about allegations against Bolt and its drivers.
Nicanis Moonsamy said that, “Bolt has a great service, the drivers make you comfortable and they are trustworthy.”
Joselyn Pillay said that, “Because I am a female I no longer use the app as often. However, if I use it I make sure that I share my trip with family and friends.”
Noluthando Nzaca said that, “When you expect a certain car and driver to pick you up and now you get a different car that is not on the app it becomes a problem they should tighten their rules on drivers so we can feel safe.”
