Amathole High School suspends bullies indefinitely

The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal has suspended two learners for attacking a fellow learner as shown in the video that is being circulated in social media platforms.
In a video that has caused outrage on social media, a female learner is being harshly beaten by another female learner on the watch of others and recording.
The School Governing Body has been directed to finalize the disciplinary process within 7 schooling days as stipulated in the South African Schools Act. Professional therapy is being offered to the victim and other affected students.
The Legal Services Unit has also been directed to assist a victim to open a case with the police and to contact social media’s “administration” with the aim of removing and blocking the dissemination of the video.
The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal wishes to appeal to social media user to refrain from circulating the video as it humiliates and inflicts more harm to the dignity of the victim.
