By: Zinhle Mngadi
The Management Performance Assessment Tool (MPAT) report will be released by the Minister in the Presidency for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Collins Chabane, on Wednesday as stated in the press release on Monday.
This report will be looking at the performances of management practices in both national and provincial department. The report will cover 156 national and provincial departments for the 2012/13 financial year. These will include numerous performance areas such as planning, service delivery, accountability, ethics and internal risk management.
Service delivery has been a crisis in this country for the past years. This report will therefore create an accountability platform for all departments on national, provincial and local scale.

Kwa-Mashu Ward 45 councillor Skhumbuzo Ngcobo said that the report is a much anticipated address for ward councillors, MEC’s and ministers because it reveals how well your department is doing.
“This report is vital to all heads of government departments like me because it will reveal how our departments have been doing in the last financial year. Service delivery is always a problem for the ward councillors and other sectors of government because we have suffered much criticism from the press for poor service delivery,” said Ngcobo.
The minister will be accompanied by the Director-General for the Department for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr Sean Phillips. This briefing will be held in Imbizo Media Centre in Cape Town on Wednesday at nine o’clock in the morning.
