COMMUNITY DEMANDS SOLUTIONS TO SERVICE DELIVERY

The enraged community members of Molweni marched to the KwaDinabakubo Hall yesterday to express their complaints about the failure of service delivery.
Amongst the complaints were lack of service delivery.
The community is complaining that Ward Councillor, Sthembiso Mchunu has failed to build RDP houses for them, bridges, tar roads, fix the potholes and there is no library, therefore the
community has to use libraries in town.
Kwanele Gumede, a learner at KwaDinabakubo High School, said that he feels the councillor has not done enough for the community.
“We don’t have a library in our community, which makes it very hard on us learners as we always have assignments due. We are forced to use libraries in towns and some of us don’t
have the money to travel to the nearest library.
I haven’t witnessed any change that the councillor has brought to the community as promised,” said Gumede.
Sphelele Simelane, a resident, said that the councillor has failed dismally to deliver all the promises she made when they voted for her to bring change in the community.
“We don’t have title deeds for our homes and she has failed to help us get them and that has resulted in us not being able to sell our houses. She only rewards those close to her and
neglects the people who put her in power,” said Simelane.
Mchunu has acknowledged complaints made by the community.
“I understand all the frustrations of the community members but they fail to understand that democracy and change takes time. I am doing my best in delivering to all the people’s needs,
but they failing to be patient,” said Mchunu.
