Sanelisiwe Nhlangulela
Residents of Sweetwaters, are demanding answers from the officials after an accused man who allegedly raped a 12 year old is released back to the community.
Two months ago, a man was allegedly accused of committing rape to a 12-year old girl. Langelihle Ngcobo, was exposed by his sister after a steamy fight they had, later the child was examined by the doctor and was declared raped. A case was opened against Ngcobo at Plessislae police station. He was charged and arrested.
According to a family member of the victim. She said, they recently saw him walking scout free, while the family was still waiting for the trail to proceed. “I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I saw him after what he committed against my younger sibling. We demand justice for her”.
The family claims that police are not giving out any concrete information on his release.
Constable Shelembe, from Plessislae police station said, “whenever we are working upon a case that is sensitive as this one many factors are brought forward as evidence. Discussing the case might jeopardise the investigation”. He claims that might be the reason why his colleagues are not giving out much to the family members.
The community came together and fought against his return.
Nontobeko Mlawudzi, is a member of the community, she said, “We support the family through this dark time, we promise to stick by them”.
