DA AND ANC CANDIDATES RELEASED

The Democratic Alliance and African National Congress have made public the lists of their Parliamentary candidates they submitted to the Independent Electoral Commission.
DA spokesperson and Gauteng premier candidate Mmusi Maimane wrote in a speech he released that their list represents the “most diverse and talented team” that the DA has ever put forward.
He also called for the ANC to publish theirs which they did the following day.
Maimane urged voters to make a critical choice about their future, the state of service delivery and who has the best policy to create jobs.
The list has Hellen Zille as number one both nationally and in the Western Cape Province. Mmusi Maimane and Sizwe Mchunu are on the first spot for Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal respectively.
Maimane said that they are confident that “this group of dynamic individuals” they submitted to the IEC on Monday, can bring about the change South Africa “so desperately needs”.
On Tuesday the ANC submitted its candidates list to the IEC and also published the names on the party’s website.
The names that are found on the ANC’s top 10 list are Jacob Zuma, Cyril Ramaphosa, Malusi Gigaba, Naledi Pandor, Jeff Radebe, Fikile Mbalula, Blade Nzimande, Bathabile Dlamini, Lindiwe Sisulu and Collins Chabane.
On the other side, the High Court in Pretoria dismissed the Economic Freedom Fighters’ application to have registration fees with IEC reduced.
This comes after the EFF requested an interdict against having to pay a “hefty” deposit when submitting a list of candidates for national elections.
News24 revealed that the IEC requires all the political parties to pay a deposit of more than R600 000 – R45 000 per province and R200 000 to fully contest the elections nationally.
The deadline for political parties to submit their lists ahead of the national elections is Wednesday at 5pm.
