African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in KwaZulu-Natal calls for implementation of subjects that will teach young boys about respect for women and children.
This was said during a peaceful march led by the KZN ANCYL this morning from King Dinuzulu (Botha) park to Durban City Hall against gender-based violence.ca
ANCYL KZN Deputy Chairperson, Sibonelo Mtshali says that this march was for them to showcase their anger against men who rape and kill women.
“There should be compulsory subject that educate boys in school on how they should discipline themselves, why should the never lay their hands on women, what does it mean being man and that can be only achieved while they are still young and in primary basic”
The ANCYL KZN also joined their hands in a chain to show unity against the acts of gender based violence.
ANC Women’s League secretary Nonhlanhla Gabela says women feel unsafe at school, church, community, taxis and even at home because they are raped and killed.
“Women are pleading that the president to call state emergency in South Africa. No bail, no parole for rapist and killers.”
The memorandum was handed to the eThekwini Municipality, Deputy Mayor Belinda Scott who promised that they will work together to end gender based violence.
