The eThekwini Municipality’s new united quick public transport network hosted a community engagement in Ward 41 on Sunday at Ringini in Khulula North.
This engagement was part of the roadshow to expose local communities to the plans and progress of the public transport network that is presently under construction.
“The aims of this project is to provide a flexible, safe, cost effective, seamless transport experience for the people of eThekwini,” said eThekwini Mayor James Nxumalo.
Businesses and community members from this ward were invited to attend these engagements hosted by the relevant ward councillors, at which senior executives from the
eThekwini Transport Authority gave presentations and explanations on the project.
Thami Manyathi, Head of eThekwini Transport Authority, requested commuters, business-owners, workers and residents in these areas to find alternate routes, or to ensure they allow
for more time on the road to get to their destinations during this construction phase.
Individuals and businesses from this community were also invited to register on the Employment Opportunities Database.
“We will continue to engage with stakeholders and communities, including the taxi industry, in these affected areas and request that all citizens work together with us to help create and
develop one of the most exciting developments in the city to date,” said Cllr Nxumalo.
