GO! DURBAN PROJECT A SUCCESS

The transport unit of the eThekwini Municipality held a media briefing at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Thursday to commend the outstanding progress of the new transport system GO! Durban.
Head of the eThekwini Transport Authority, Thami Manyathi gave an overview on the whole project.
He said that they are close to having broken the back of construction.
“We have met a few challenges along the way but we believe we have been able to address these timeously and systematically to ensure that we have a link between these areas (Pinetown, KwaMashu, Cleremont etc) by the end of 2016,” he said.
He added that nonetheless, he is happy about the progress at the Josiah Gumede (Old Main Road) in Pinetown, they are sighting a lot of difference.
EThekwini Mayor James Nxumalo said that he is happy about the work done under the construction of GO! Durban, since the public have complained about heavy traffic especially in the Pinetown area during the construction.
“We are in communication with the members of the community so that we know how they see the progress, however, we promise that after the construction, the heavy traffic will decrease and our people with have a chance to enhance their skills and get job opportunities,” added Nxumalo.
According to Sharlene Versfeld from Versfeld & Associates, the municipality has scheduled a site tour of the first GO! Durban route from Pinetown CBD to KwaMashu’s Bridge City on the 26th November 2015.
