INDIAN CHEMICAL EXHIBITION

The Consulate General of India in Durban, in collaboration with Chemexcil India, held an Indian Chemical Exhibition and Buyer-Seller Meet at the Durban International Convention Centre on Wednesday.
The Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics Export Promotion Council popularly known as Chemexcil is set up by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, to promote exports from India.
Chemexcil Assistance Director Ashok Nagrare said, “The objective of the exhibition and buyer-seller meet is to showcase India’s capabilities as a supplier of steady, sustainable and cost effective international quality products to South Africa, Africa and partner countries.”
He further mentioned that this event would also provide a unique opportunity to buyers from South Africa to interact with international manufacturers for sourcing their product requirements from India.
The exhibitors shared their expertise with local business personnel.
Rjesh Thavi, sales manager at Vipul Dye Chem LTD.No which was one of the exhibitors, said that the turnout was overwhelming.
“We were not expecting such response from the public but however we are happy they showed support, business people have been coming in to the exhibition and socializing with us and we are very happy about that.”
With the increasing diversification of India’s global trade towards emerging and developing countries, Africa has emerged as an important partner for India for trade and commerce during the recent years.
South Africa is India’s largest export market in Africa, accounting for about 19-20 percent in India’s exports, which included Dyes and Dye Intermediates, organic chemicals and Agrochemicals.
