LOCAL BUSINESSES THRIVE AT HOUSE & GARDEN SHOW
Close to 500 emerging businesses from all over KwaZulu-Natal are showcasing their work at the House and Garden show at the Durban Exhibition Centre.
The show is hosted by East Coast Radio (ECR) and the eThekwini Municipality. It aims to help small businesses grow their market and expand internationally.
Nokwazi Hadebe from the Department of Trade and Investment said the Department has 14 exhibitors from their programme that is responsible for attracting investments to KZN.
“We have programmes we do for small businesses, gearing them towards exporting and part of that is exposing them into local and international exhibitions. All our companies are small businesses from KZN,” she said.
Agnes Mhlongo is the owner of Switched on Trade, a company that uses recycled materials to create beads. Mhlongo believes that through the exhibition, her business can engage with other small businesses and learn from them.
“We are a small business from KwaNyuswa and we use recycled materials for our business from South Africa by making kid’s dresses, jewellery boxes, traditional beads and African print bags,” Mhlongo said.
The show also includes a variety of activities such as music, food, live shows, fashion and art gallery. The House and Garden show began on the 28th of June and will continue until the 07th of July at the Durban Exhibition Centre.
