MANGOSUTHU TO ELECT NEW SRC

The Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) will have its Students Representative Council (SRC) elections on Thursday and political student organisations are hard at
campaigning.
MUT is presently under the leadership of SASCO and the SADESMO is the opposing organisation.
Last week both organisations took their campaign to the residences in the Central Business District (CBD).
Deputy Chairperson of SASCO, Sanele Zama, said that they know that votes from students that reside in town will be very crucial.
“We are mobilising the students to come Joe Slovo rally, where we will give a clear indication on how SASCO will govern next year.
We have gone to City Life, Four Seasons, Killarney, Palmerston to mention the few residences, they must know what we have done and what we will deliver when re-elected,”
said Zama.
There were songs and dances when two organisation converge in front of Killarney Residence in South Beach.
SADEMSO candidate Nokuzola Modonsela, said that their campaign is based on correcting the wrongs that SASCO has been doing during its tenure.
“Many students don’t have financial aid and what is sad is that there are final-year students that are owing thousands, meaning they won’t graduate in autumn. Once SADESMO is in
power all that will be improved,” said Madonsela.
SASCO’s campaign is surrounded by a huge scandal. Journalismiziko found out that students are angry with the fact that Mr and Ms MUT only received 10 % of the price money they
were supposed to get.
Zama confirmed that the winners received R500 voucher instead of R5000 and he hopes the organisers will sort out the issue very soon.
