MISSING MAN FOUND DEAD IN CLERMONT

By: Talent Buthelezi
A man’s body was found decomposing in a bush yesterday morning.
Thabile Buthelezi, a resident of KwaDabeka in Clermont was on her way to school when she saw a “human skull” lying on her neighbour’s driveway.
“I was rushing to the taxi stop to catch a taxi when I saw a person’s head on my neighbour’s driveway. I got into the taxi but what I had just seen started troubling me. It was then that I decided to text my friend, Zanele, who went to check out if what I had just seen was indeed a skull,” said Buthelezi.
Upon the police arrival at the scene, they discovered the man’s body a few centimetres away from the skull. The police also identified that the clothes the dead man was wearing matched those of a description made by a young lady who had reported her brother missing a few weeks earlier. The skull had a hole in it which police believed was a result of a gun wound.
Philile Zuma, a resident of the area said, “I had noticed an awful smell coming from the bush but initially thought it was probably a dead dog. This incident has shocked me and the entire neighbourhood.”
Zuma further mentioned that a couple of weeks before the incident, they heard their neighbour crying out for help as she was being mugged. During the same night, gun shots were fired randomly in the bush, citing that the neighbourhood was not safe.
The KwaDabeka community is known for its violence and for community members taking matters into their own hands when it comes to fighting crime. A few months before this incident, the community had beaten up an alleged “Whoonga” addict after he had attacked a student from a local secondary school.
Later during the day, a morgue vehicle took the dead body. Police say that no arrests have been made as the matter is still under investigation.
