The community of Umngeni, lower Molweni, is grateful for finally having tarred road.
Community members did not have a road for many years. They used paths and the road was a gravel which made it hard for taxis to come and fetch them.
Moses Xaba, a community member expressed his gratitude for the infrastructural development.
“As the community we are very happy with the progress made, looking back in 2011 when the road was still a gravel and after 4 years it has now been completed. We would like to
thank the councillor for caring for our community. We have always seen ourselves as the outcasts of Molweni, and hence we did not see any developments in our part of the area. We
now see ourselves as part of ward 9,” said Xaba.
Kwenzakwakhe Nxumalo, a Molweni taxi owner, said that he is also happy that the road has been finally completed.
Nxumalo said, “As a taxi owner I am very much grateful that after so long the road has been completed because our vehicles would no longer be damaged and our passengers would not
complain anymore about walking long distances to catch a taxi.”
Ward Nine Councillor, Sthembiso Mchunu, said that she would like to thank the community of Umngeni for having patience after it took so many years to finally complete the Bhalitho
“The reason why the community of Umngeni saw themselves as neglected was mainly because the previous councillor had failed to fulfil the promises made and to build the
members a tarred road.
When I was elected to be a councillor I made it my priority to make sure that the road it built. Now the community of Umngeni feels as if they are a part of Ward
9,” says Mchunu.
