NEW COMMUNITY SAFETY GROUP TO COMBAT CRIME

Hammarsdale community has a strategic plan to combat crime in the area this festive season.
Through this busy time of shopping and spending of annual savings, members of the community are determined to fight against crime and corruption.
They have formed a group known as “Nkazimulo” and consist of nine members.
Sandile Lukhozi a founding member of the group said that the group was formulated last year November.
“Our mission has been to ensure the wellbeing of our children, parents and community at large,” said Lukhozi.
He added that the community has suffered greatly in the previous years.
“There are many incidents that were reported to the police but they either came late when called or did not do anything about these people,” added Lukhozi.
Phumlani Shezi, co-founder of the group, said that the community has suffered from criminal acts such as murder and mugging, which have always happened around the busy festive
“Our aim is to not only focus on the festive season but also proceed with this every month,” said Shezi.
The group has shifts and proudly represent themselves in blue and khaki uniform.
“Our community is surely a better and safer place to be at with Nkazimulo,” said Nombuso Mkhabela, a community member.
According to its founders, Nkazimulo group will soon launch its office and grow into a full time security service.
