Ngubeni Clinic celebrates new HIV pill
After the introduction of the new HIV drug simply known as TLD. The Ngubeni clinic was left gushing over the outcomes of the treatment.
Ngubeni clinic situated on the outskirt rural area of KwaNoshezi, Pietermaritzburg. Where their HIV positive patients visit the clinic once a year for examination in order to manage how effective the treatment is suppressing the virus. After the launch of the treatment by the department of health, the clinic switched to this new era of medication.
Sister Mbali Zondi, CEO of the clinic, said the new drug has brought excitement to their patients as of the pill show less side effects compared to the previous ARVs. Zondi said, “We have been receiving complaints towards the previous pill of suffering from headache, dizziness, to count the few. It’s of great excitement to announce that no complain has been laid so far”.
Following the staff management caught celebrating this kind of excitement. Sister Thabethe, who is serving as one of the staff working with people living with HIV, she voiced out her excitement over recording the good news they receive from their patients. “The advantage of the pill is that you can take it anytime of the day, this prevents the patients from defaulting their medication”.
The patient who asked to remain anonymous because of their HIV status. She said, “I started using the pill three months ago and I haven’t noticed any side effects however I have gained weight”.
