No lights out this weekend
Eskom has revealed in a statement that there will be no load shedding this weekend.
Due to the excessive load shedding that people have been experiencing this past week, three generation units were restored to service over night.
The three generators were returned to service at the Lethabo, Medupi and Kusille power stations, while another until at Kusile was taken offline for repairs.
“Unplanned breakdowns stand at 8 750MW of capacity, adding to the 4 500MW currently out on planned maintenance” Eskom said in released statement.
The power utility still urges people to use electricity sparingly as the generation infrastructure is aged, unpredictable, unreliable and volatile.
Eskom also warns that any deterioration in the generation performance may force the power utility to implement load shedding at short notice.
“We would like to thank the people of South Africa or their assistance and patience during the difficulties of load shedding” Eskom said.
