PLEA FOR GOOD SAMARITANS TO ASSIST NEEDY GRADE 10 LEARNER
By: Zimasa Matiwane
Margate SAPS Women’s Network is appealing to the public to help a teenager in need of cosmetic surgery and medical attention.
“An 18-year-old grade 10 learner, from Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape, is in urgent need of help and medical assistance,” said Lieutenant Colonel Muriel Novandla.
The teenager was involved in a bus accident while returning from a sports event and sustained injuries that disfigured her. After four years of living without an ear, there seems to be complications. Novandla said, “Her right ear had been sheared off. The teenager is now in high school and not only is she in need of cosmetic surgery, she has developed ear infections that have impaired her hearing and also giving off a foul discharge.”
According to Novandla, the learner’s family cannot afford medical costs for required procedures. She said, “She is one of three children being raised single-handedly by their mother since their father died a year before the accident. They live off a social grant and are battling to make ends meet, let alone being able to afford transport and medical costs. Their home is a modest little house in rural Lusikisiki.”
The assistance she requires, include, inter alia, a hearing aid, cosmetic surgery to build her a new ear, urgent specialist medical treatment for her ears and any financial aid for transport and other costs.
If anyone is in a position to assist or would like further information, they may contact Lieutenant Colonel Novandla on 039-312 9859 or 082 707 2663. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
