Fashion Designer Quitera Kekana was in a near fatal car accident this past Friday on his way back to Johannesburg from Free State.
“I don’t know how I lost control of the car. I was cautious the entire time,” shared a shaken up Quitera.
The 37 year old who survived his sixth suicide attempt has been very vocal about his mental health on social media and shares that he called his psychologist immediately after the accident to calm him down and get through the ordeal.
“My psychologist called the tow truck, paramedics and police,” said Kekana.
Quitera said the two passengers he was traveling with didn’t suffer any injuries and it was just him who was hurt.
Socialite Leon Payne who was traveling with Kekana said; “I’m just glad that everybody is fine and nobody was badly injured. You cannot put a price to life.”
“I hurt my neck and back nothing serious. I’m just glad that nothing happened to the people I was traveling with. I wouldn’t have been able to live with the guilt had something happened to them,” shared Kekana.
The fashion industry has suffered greatly from lockdown and creatives in the fashion industry like Kekana who make their money off couture gowns that come at a very hefty price.
“This year hasn’t been a great year, first COVID-19, now I have to fix 3 tyres and an exhaust pipe. I’m really grateful that it wasn’t a write off,” Kekana said.
Kekana asks for privacy during these trying times but remains optimistic about the future.
