SASCO MEETING AFTER WINNING 2015 ELECTIONS

By: Sthabiso Mdledle
South African Students Congress (SASCO) is calling upon every Durban University of Technology student to come to their meeting about the issues facing DUT students.
Thokozani Mdetshe of the students ruling party at DUT (SASCO) said that, SASCO always win because the students know that they mean business.
He said that is why they have set up a meeting just recently after they have won the elections because they love what they do.
“We want our brothers and sisters to know that they can trust us to represent them and their different needs,” said Mdletshe.
He added that this meeting will be about the unresolved issues affecting the majority of DUT students.
He said that there are so many problems that NSFAS students are facing.
“Most students are sitting at home, they didn’t even graduate because they’re owing the institution and the NSFAS system has rejected them,” explained Mdletshe.
SASCO won the election on the 25th of August this year and it was not the first time.
The IEC spokesperson said that the election was successful but it could have been better.
“Students really need to start taking the elections seriously, our statistics are very low and we know that they can do better,” said Zanele Mangqikiza SASCO member at the University of
KwaZulu-Natal.
SASCO said that they will take the report and the memorandum to Prof. Bawa after the meeting because to ensure that they see change as soon as possible.
