SASSA introduces new easy way for Unemployment Grant payment

South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is giving grant beneficiaries a chance to change their payment method.
SASSA has announced that they will be opening an opportunity for Unemployment Grant beneficiaries to change the way they get paid. Beneficiaries will be able to change from Post Office to their personal bank accounts. This window will be open from 31 August to 6 September. This process can be done through SASSA website.
This has been the greatest news for other beneficiaries since they were facing challenges to collect their money.
Mlungisi Luthuli, who is a grant beneficiary said he has been facing difficulties to get his money.
“I have never withdrawn my money from the post office. When I get there in the morning the queue is already long, and I cannot stay because I have other things to attend to,” said Luthuli.
He added that when he comes back in the evening the Post Office is already closed.
Luthuli said switching from Post Office to his personal bank account will make things better and easier.
SASSA CEO, Totsie Memela advised people to make sure they change their details accurately.
“When choosing a bank account, ensure that the account is in your name and that the bank account is not closed,” said Memela.
Memela suggested that applicants without bank accounts open them. She said it is easier and quicker to make payments through a bank account.
SASSA will not pay money for one person through an account held by another person!
