Stabbing incident leaves student dead
A student at the University of Fort Hare (UFH) in the Eastern Cape Yonela Boli was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend on Saturday morning.
Boli was announced dead at the Victoria Hospital in Alice after sustaining multiple injuries.
This incident follows only weeks after the start of the University’s academic year. Boli is one of the nine UFH students who have died this year. The student was allegedly stabbed by a female student in full view of other students at the Lona Residence at the Alice campus.
In a statement released by the University states that it does not allow violence on their campuses.
“Gender-based violence is not welcomed at our campuses. At this stage, it is not clear what led to the incident.”
“The University of Fort Hare condemns all forms of violence and off-campus and will monitor the case to ensure law runs its course.
The 24-year-old female student at the University of Fort Hare has been arrested in connection with the death of her “close friend.
