STUDENTS COMMEMORATE THEIR WORK

It was an overwhelming day for the first and second year Durban University of Technology Graphic Design students as they held their end of year exhibition on Wednesday.
Parents and friends gathered at City Campus to see first hand the artwork by the students.
The exhibition was part of their final assessment and was to also showcase their growth in their field of study.
Frank Kalala, graphic design lecturer, said that the exhibition is a culmination of the whole year’s work from the different practical projects they had to do for each subject.
“The exhibition used to be hand crafted work but since the digital side of graphic design is growing fast, we introduced them to the digital world. It is for students to see their growth and for parents to see what the students have been doing throughout the year,” Kalala said.
The students were proud to show off their long year of hard work with their loved ones.
“The exhibition is a great platform to see how you have improved from the first art piece you did. It is also for us to boast and show off our work, identify our errors and most importantly improve for the best,” said student Karl Ludick
Kalala concluded that as much as the exhibition is for the student’s final assessment mark, it is also for them to celebrate their work.
“This is all about the students and their work- we just want them to be proud of their efforts and celebrate getting this far,” he said
