SUCCESS OF SABC CROWN GOSPEL AWARDS

The International Convention Centre (ICC) was fully packed on Sunday evening as gospel artists and fans gathered to celebrate the 8th annual SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards.
The awards are the celebration and honour of the gospel music industry in the country.
Categories range from the Gospel Art of the Year to Best Gospel Song of the Year.
“The eighth edition of the Crowns were not short of perfection! This year the standard has transcended expectations from the crop of gospel artists to the actual production,” said Zanele
Mbokazi-Nkambule, the founder and executive producer of the ceremony.
Going away with the award of the song of the year was Dumi Mkokstad for his song “Safa naye”, beating his tight competition Thobekile Mkhwanazi with her song “Wonderful
“I told sis (sister) Thobekile when the ceremony started that it was either me or her,” said Mkokstad as he spoke on stage.
The crowd went wild with excitement when Andile kaMaJola was announced as the Best Male Artist of the Year.
He was followed by Jabu Hlongwane, Lindelani Mkhize and Mthunzi Namba, the founders of Joyous Celebration, all winning the Lifetime Achiever Award for their contribution in the
gospel music industry.
Congratulations were in order for Uche, a Nigerian artist, for taking a crown for Best of Africa Gospel.
