The State is set to charge the teenagers accused of murdering a Cape Town mother, Rosemary Theron.
Among the teenagers is the deceased’s daughter, Phoenix Racing Cloud Theron, 18. The other accused are the daughter’s boyfriend, 19-year-old Kyle Maspera who is said to have masterminded the murder, and their friend, 20-year-old Godfrey Scheepers.
They will appear at the Simonstown Magistrate Court on the 10th of October, after their case was rescheduled.
It is reported that the couple would remain in police custody until their next court appearance. They were escorted to the Pollsmoor Prison after their appearance in court on Wednesday.
During their court appearance, Theron stood between Maspere and Scheepers and didn’t make eye contact with neither of them.
Scheepers received bail after he made a confession last week to the police, which helped find Rosemary Theron’s body last week in a shallow grave in Standfontein. Theron had been missing for six months.
Scheepers later admitted to only being involved when Maspere called him to help them relocate the body.
According to the Cape Times, Phoenix hugged her mother and told her mother that she was “Sorry for not fighting” before Maspere sneaked from behind her and murdered her. Scheepers is accused of helping the two carry out the body and burying it in a shallow grave.
Family members of the accused were shocked, but mainly Theron’s friends as they went on to her Facebook account. A family friend of the deceased conveyed shock with the developments of this case as they believe that “there is a dark and sinister element” that may have played a role there.
They are expected to apply for bail in their next court appearance.
