Two people were injured after a light motor vehicle plunged 30 metres down an embarkment on the M13 in Fields Hill near Pinetown on Sunday evening.
According to ER24 Paramedics, they used special rescue equipment and made their way down in the embarkment to the vehicle
When the paramedics were on assessment, a male and female were discovered in the vehicle.
They were not in a critical condition.
The patients were removed and returned to the roadside for further treatment.
ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring, said that the patients were lucky to survive the accident because of the way the vehicle crashed down.
“These patients escaped a serious injury, it could have been a worse situation.
We are still uncertain of the cause of the collision because both patients tested negative on the
alcohol/drug tester. We are urging all drivers and passengers to be careful when they are driving especially at night,” said Meining.
“I saw a car jumping in the air then I heard a big crash, I was far but could see the whole thing, I made a U-turn toward the scene and found the car laying down and called the
ambulance,” said Mayur Naaido, a witness at the scene.
Both patients refused to talk about the accident because of the trauma they went through.
After the patients received treatment on the scene, they were then transported to RK Khan Hospital for further treatment.
Local authorities arrived at the scene for further investigations.
