VELD FIRE CLAIM FOUR LIVES

A 60-year-old grandmother and three grandchildren were burned to death in their home at the rural area of Qoboshiyane, Matatiele.
The house of the family of four was one of 50 other houses, farm land and livestock that were lost in the veld fire.
Hundreds of hectares were also lost to the fire that began destroying since the beginning of the weekend.
According to SABC reports, disaster management team were trying to control the fire as it was moving towards other areas, like Kokstad. But the team said that the fire was out of control due to strong winds.
Farmers in Cederville said that more than ten farms and hundreds of livestock have been burnt.
Alfred Nzo District municipality Spokesperson Ndabuko Masumpa said, “Police were still investigating the situation and teams have searched the area to verify the cause of the incident.”
Four other people were able to escape the fire and were admitted in hospitals with several burn wounds
