Thousands of employees and guests from various cities participated at the Bidvest Unity
Walk, in Durban, which is an initiative to support the disabled.
Employees and guests from Durban, Johannesburg, Cape Town as well as Port Elizabeth
annually participate in the 10km walk to support the disabled.
Sipho Khoza, Bidvest Unity Walk event organizer said, “Thank you on behalf of the
association and a huge thanks to those who participated and finished the 10km walk. Today
approximately 240 wheelchairs were benefitted from this event.”
“Persons with disabilities should be exposed and participate in all activities out there and they
should not be shy, “said Khoza.
Sanele Mzobe, employee from Bidtrack Company, said that as much as it is a walk for
charity it also helps to distress some frustrations one could have had.
“This walk made one see some parts of Durban we haven’t noticed and its beauty and
richness in tourism,” added Mzobe.
Nonhlanhla Gumede, a guest at the walk said that it was a great way to spend quality time
with your family while exercising, having fun but most importantly helping the needy.
“Today was a very fun-filled day with loads of refreshments on the way while walking to
keep us hydrated in the sun, food, refreshments and a secure kid’s area at each venue was
available for the kids to play,” said Gumede.
Live performances by different musical bands entertained participants.
