WOMEN WITH A BANG EVENT

Varsity College together with Miss South Africa, Gagasi FM and Outrage Concepts, presents the first annual event called ‘Women With A Bang’.
This event will be supported by Gagasi FM’s midday show, ‘The Big Bang’ hosted by media personality, actor and comedian, Kini Shandu.
“I am, as is Gagasi FM, so excited to be a part of this initiative.
Our aim is to create as much awareness as possible on air so as to attract many young women to the event.Personally, it is my hope that the ‘Women With A Bang’ event will be the first step in up skilling, inspiring and encouraging women to do great things,” said Shandu.
In the days leading up to the main event, Miss South Africa 2015, Liesl Laurie, will be giving away eight bursaries valued at R30 000 each to deserving young women via Gagasi FM.
The winners of the bursaries will be able to study part time or complete a Short Learning Programme at The Business School at Varsity College.
“Varsity College became involved with the Miss SA pageant wanting to make an authentic, significant and educational difference not only to the ladies involved in the pageant, but to the
work that is carried out in the communities they serve,” said Kevin Johnson, national stakeholder manager at Varsity College.
Oprah Winfrey once said, “For every one of us that succeeds, it’s because there’s somebody there to show you the way out. The light doesn’t always necessarily have to be in your
family; for me it was teachers and my school.”
Oprah’s statement speaks to a situation which is faced by many young women in South Africa and is a great inspiration for this event.
The main event will take place at Varsity College’s Durban North campus on the 28th of August.
