Durban citizens expressed their joy as the Durban’s biggest home of entertainment, Suncoast Durban finally opened its doors on Monday.
Suncoast had been temporarily closed at the beginning of the lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic.
This place, which is made up of restaurants, casino, cinema, theatre and a hotel attracts a lot of people who want to have fun especially Durbanites.
Suncoast opened following the Minister of Tourism, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane’s press briefing on the 26th of June 2020, officially allowing restaurants and other part of tourism sector to re-open. She further confirmed the rules that will guide and be followed by tourism sector.
In a Facebook statement, Suncoast announced that not all parts of Suncoast will be re-opened to the public.
“We have seen how excited you are about us opening and the good news is… we will be opening the casino and restaurants. Cinecentre, and The Barnyard Theatre will remain temporarily closed,” statement read.
The excitement could be seen on Suncoast social media pages including facebook, “@Lindiwe Mkhwanazi @SUNCOAST Durban Facebook page ‘What a fantabulous news’.”
However, some shared their concerns about the Suncoast re-opening. Just like @Nathy Gasa views @SUNCOAST Durban Facebook page, “I wish it was still close, life matters the most. Covid-19 is still there I’m not happy with the opening.”
