Lithapo actor accused of sexual misconduct allegations
A caption less image of actor Mangaliso Ngema made rounds on twitter on Wednesday.
He is one of the leading actors on Lithapo, a Sesotho television drama on SABC 2. Actresses such Rami Chuene, Thando Thabethe and Bonnie Mbuli posted his image on twitter in act of solidarity with other actresses.
This is amid sexual harassment speculations that were made by actress Lorriane Moropa after she publicly expressed the inappropriate physical encounters, she had with one of the soapie’s senior actors.
Moropa took to Instagram on Monday to declare “enough is enough”. “Being constantly sexually harassed by a male senior at a workplace cannot and should not be tolerated. Your senior, someone who’s meant to protect you in the entertainment industry violates your human rights, that’s not even half the pain.”
Fellow actress and YFM DJ Altovise Lawrence supported Moropa’s statement and gained courage to express she experienced the same treatment on set.
“I stand in solidarity with @lorrainemoropa who has had courage to come out and say that she has been sexually harassed by an actor on set. The same man that sexually harassed her, has sexually harassed me too on the very same set,” said Lawrence.
Quizzical Pictures, the soapie’s production house advised they have been made aware of the accusations which pertain to one of their sets. In a statement released by the production to The Citizen; they said, “We are dealing with the issue with the people concerned.”
No statements have been released by Mangaliso Ngema thus far.
