Sjava’s recent video takes social media by storm

Nombuso Asanda Dlamini
It is quite clear that Mzansi has returned to Mzansi’s good books after a case against him was dismissed. The case was filed against him by former girlfriend and musician, Lady Zamar. However, the case was thrown out of court later this month.
Fans were left impressed after Sjava and rapper Robot boi released a video on social media where they were rapping and reciting Sjava’s clan names.
The video with over 40 thousand views and close to 400 retweets was shared by Twitter user AdvoBarryRoux on Monday morning. Tweeps were very aroused and were cheering to the video.

“I am still a Sjava fan and will remain one until the end of time. I believe a person is innocent until proven guilty so since he was not proven guilty why should I judge him,” said Thulisa Dlamini.
Although the musician seems to have not lost a lot of fans there are however people whose perspectives have changed in terms of how they look at him.
Gustavo Vutomi, a Gender Based Violence activist and active member of the EFFSC believes that South Africans have failed Lady Zamar and were too quick to let the rape saga go.
“There is no smoke without fire, I am not saying Sjava is guilty but the way the hype about this video clearly shows that South Africans could not wait for his case to be dropped. I personally do not wish to listen to anymore of his music,” said Vutomi.
“If a person has been charged with an offence and there is not enough evidence to support probable cause, the law takes a very dim view of such cases. Suspects who are brought in without enough evidence are generally released. In this instance, Sjava’s case docket was withdrawn by the director of public prosecutions due to insufficient evidence to prosecute,” said Amanda Mchunu, a law expert from UNISA.
Mchunu suggested that people do not make any conclusions about accusations made against a person but should allow the court to do that.
