Dladla Mshunqisi: The rise to fame, businesses and family
Anele Dlala who is popularly known by his stage name, Dladla Mshunqisi is one of South Africa’s most loved vocalist and entertainer. He first came into the entertainment industry back in 2016.
The talented vocalist’s fame came after his collaboration with the popular Durban Gqom music group “Destruction Boyz” alongside Benny Maverick for their hit song “Omunye.” The jam was a major hit in the South African club scene and the radio waves including South Africa and all over Africa. He continued to collaborate with many of Mzansi’s biggest artists, including Kwaito king, Dj Tira.
On the 5th of October 2018 he released his debut album titled “Umshunqo,” which included his song “Pakisha.” The 13-track album included ‘Ses’fikile,’ ‘Izibalo’ and ‘Usuku,’ which feature Tipcee, Joejo and Distruction Boyz.
Mshunqisi may be one of the most popular vocalists and entertainer in Mzansi’s entertainment industry. However, he didn’t always had plans of becoming an entertainer. His first passion is the food industry. He is a chef by profession. His passion for food has been present at a tender age. As a teenager he would volunteer as a chef in a hospitality and management Company that’s known as “ServePro” and later his dedication and handwork earned him the position of head cook at the company, proving he is a force to be reckoned with.
When asked which did he love doing more, being a chef or an entertainer, he said he couldn’t choose between the two as they were both his “happy places.”
“I love both the same way because these are both my happy places. When I am on stage I’m always happy to entertain people with my music and also when I’m in the kitchen I’m happy to make food for people that are waiting for it,” he added.
The KwaMashu born entertainer is extremely proud of his background because he believes it taught him a lot about being the person he is today.
“My background helped me to know how to be a hustler, to stand on my own two feet and also follow on my father’s footsteps of running my own business. Growing up eKasi was the best thing ever because it taught me how to focus on what I want and hustle for what I want because not everything was given to me on a silver platter, “Wrote the entertainer.
The family of the Gqom artist played a huge role in his success and wealth, enabling him to live his dream of being a chef and discovering his passion for music and entertainment. His father who is a successful taxi boss, taught the multi-talented entertainer to also believe in himself in his own businesses, whether it running his restaurant or his music.
As being one the most “booked and busy” artists, Mshunqisi has advise for other celebrities and his fans on how to save money by advising on the importance of having a financial advisor to help you manage your finances today because you never what tomorrow has planned.
“Be smart about it get yourself a financial advisor and saving money is the best these days because you might never know what will happen tomorrow,” he said.
Dladla Mshunqisi’s music and talent continues to uplift the spirit of Africa and we definitely cannot wait to see what next for this jack of all trade.
