Durban University of Technology alumni, Mpumelelo Shangase is flying the South African flag high in Germany during lockdown.
Mpumelelo, a student from Greytown in a small village called Bhekizwe, is the living proof that sky is indeed the limit.
After graduating on record time with Cum Laude for his National Diploma in Sport Management in DUT, the 24-year-old enrolled at Leipzig University for a post graduate specialisation course in handicap sports.
“I am specialising in athlete rehabilitation and training science,” said Mpumelelo.
Mpumelelo said that being a student in a foreign country was not a challenge for him, “Germany has the best health care systems and the regulations are bearable” he said.
He believes that the Corona virus did not have a negative impact on his studies.
“Apart from the fact that we missed out on practical experience the corona virus did not affect my studies that much, it was only a disturbance of one month,” he said.
The post graduate student had plans on coming back home in August, but as a result of the lockdown regulations his flight was cancelled.
“I am still waiting for the situation to get better and for borders to be opened again,” he added.
