“I’m Phonixthecool and it’s nice to meet you”
Dabbling between making fire music and creating an eye-wear empire, Phonixthecool does it all.
Lunga Khumalo, most popularly known as Phonixthecool got the name from a very young age which come from the word ‘phonics’ because he has always had a unique way of speaking and putting sentences and words together. After changing the spelling, he later added ‘thecool’ which simply meant “cool lingo” or way of speaking.
Phonix started writing music in primary school and only started recording in 2012. The muso has been consistent since and released his debut project Photoshopped on August 13th last year and later on this year released an extended version, which are both available on Audiomack of which was well received and been a success. With music influences such as Chis Brown, one cannot miss the versatility in his music.
“I’m the type that vibes off anything and I like exploring and trying new things so when I’m in studio, I’m always looking to create sounds that don’t exist, and I always challenge myself of going out of my comfort zone and most of the time the outcome is always positive,” he said.
Phonixthecool doesn’t only focus on music, but an entrepreneur about to launch an eye-wear brand Look Kool anytime soon. As driven and dedicated the upcoming musician still has bigger plans and lives by one motto, “the vision is always to win. Nobody wants to lose, so with me it’s pretty much the same. I just want to win, inspire, empower and be the best at what I do.”
