Kristal Kisten : Durban’s Fresh Ponds Face
22-year old Kristal Kisten is a full-time Psychology student at The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and the face of Ponds pimple clear clay cleanser range!
Her passion for psychology stems from both, being a curious learner and wanting to help others and she feels psychology is a bit of both. Being a lover of visual arts and self-expression that does not necessarily involve words Kisten freely expresses herself through the art forms of photography and video through her Instagram and this has gotten her quite the following.
“Social media is really tricky to navigate and can really swallow you up if you get caught up in the glamour. To me, being an influencer means you have a voice to echo those that don’t as well as creativity to outlet to just be you and influence others. I really try to reach out to women who are struggling.” says Kisten.
In the age of digital media, there’s so much pressure put on women and this hits at the confidence of women everywhere. Kisten says she herself is not as confident as she would like to be but she believes this is a constant work-in-progress.
“I have come a long way from the person I used to be. I’m naturally an anxious person so adding that to low self-esteem didn’t give me a good outcome. Luckily I was able to get out of that mindset and just stop caring what others think of me”.
Her perspectives grew her confidence and she’s also a beauty and lifestyle vlogger. This growth sparked bigger things as she was chosen to be the face of Ponds pimple clear clay cleanser range.
Kisten said that she had previously received a public relations package from the Ponds team about a year ago but she had no idea it would go any further, so she was naturally surprised when she got a call from the team. She was among two other beautiful ladies.
