Meet the new DUT SRC

The ceremonial induction into the position of the new Student Representative Council (SRC) members at the Durban University of Technology took place at Fred Crookes Sports Centre on Friday.
The University Management congratulated the members of the 2019/20 SRC and wishes to have a good working relationship with them moving forward.
Meet the new SRC members for Durban Campuses:
Memela Thamsanqa – President
“We will make sure that there is free Wi-Fi in all DUT residences and all strategic corners in DUT, We will make sure that all allowances are in time, students will have access to their results even if they owe the institution”.
Dyantyi Andiswa – Deputy Secretary
“I believe that I will bring change at DUT, we will solve the current B-Tech issues”.
Sigedle Phindugcobe – Treasurer
“I will make sure we print free and scan free at DUT campuses since are already paying for student levies. We want the library to be open 24 hours”.
Sangweni Njabulo – Projects Officer
“I will fight for all the suppressed students, all the issues students are facing will be solved during our term of office. We will continue from the previous SRC. We want all students to feel safe in our campuses”.
Hadebe Gugulethu – Social Welfare
“We represent every student, we cater for all students including students that live with disabilities, the LGBTI community should be protected I believe there should be policies that protect them. Student counseling should help our students. I will make sure these needs are met”
Ndabazandile Aphelele – Sports Officer
“All students who are not able to register on time will be able to register, Student Cafeteria should decrease their prices they are too high for students”.
Buthelezi Cebolenkosi – Organisation and Accommodation
“We will try to make the distribution of sanitary pads is free to ladies”
Dlamini Zamangwane – Education and Transformation
“We can admit that the previous SRC did not manage to complete all the issues we were promised but we have reviewed these issues and came out with effective solutions which we strongly believe that they will be effective as we go to the office”.

“We Pledge to Build, create and sustain a stable academic institutional environment, which teaches and practices democracy, personal freedom, and equality,” new SRC pledged to the DUT community.
