NEED FOR SPEED: REVIEW

By: Dale Munatswa
Describing this movie in a few words may turn out to be one of the most difficult things one can ever do. However, “jaw-breaking stunts, really fast cars, and prolonged vengeance are key in the description of Need For Speed the movie. “
The movie stars Aaron Paul (from the award winning MTV series “Breaking Bad”), Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Scott Mescudi (also known as Kid Cudi), Dakota Johnson and Michael Keaton
It is a true masterpiece by movie director Steve Waugh who was a seasoned stunt performer before he became a director
Tobey Marshal (Aaron Paul) struggles to run the garage he inherited from his father with the help of a group of loyal friends employed with race rewards. His long-time acquaintance, former NASCAR driver and bad boy Dino
Brewster (Dominic Cooper) gives Marshal an offer to assemble and customise a Shelby Mustang to be sold on auction. In a race of ‘winner takes all’ for the mustang auction, Dino Brewster double-crosses Tobey and he serves two years in prison for manslaughter.
As soon as he got out of jail, the movie then gives its audience a behind the wheel experience as Marshal drives cross country to Califonia in the fastest car he ever built, the customised Shelby Mustang. Marshal and his friends, accompanied by a wealthy investor associate who owned the Mustang, Julia Bonet (Imogen Poots), drive to an unknown location to enter into an infamous ‘by invite-only’ prestigious street race, The De Leon street race- the race of a life time, where Marshal aims to avenge the death of his friend, prove his innocence and make Brewster pay for what he did.
Aaron Paul delivers a remarkable performance as he dodges the police with the 800+ horse powered Mustang
The movie is constantly thrilling, filled with spontaneous entertainment, comedy and drama. Music is appropriate for every scene and aids in setting the appropriate mood.
Anxiety, tension, excitement, and sweaty palms from holding your arms so tight are some of the many results one is due to experience after watching the Need For Speed movie.
