THE GHOST BUSTERS
PROVING THAT SPIRITS DO EXIST

Imagine a large 9 bedroom house situated on a very busy street and is alleged to have some mysterious activities ranging from the owner being touched on her head, stroking of hair, footsteps heard on the stairway and even taps being shut off, amongst other incidents.
This is one of the extraordinary cases that the Supper Phenomena Investigative Team of South Africa (SPITSA) took to prove the existence of spirits around human life.
Even though a vast number of people don’t believe in the existence of human spirits, a few are forced to believe by personal experiences.
This unique non-governmental organization was founded by Tracy Johnson and Mitch Tuba with the vision to serve the community by documenting any allegations of paranormal or an unexplained activity, in free style language there are referred to as “ghost busters”.
Tracy Johnson said that they use simple things like a flash light during their investigations. “In a silent room we please the ghost to show its presence, we even go as far as daring it,” Jonhson. “By saying I bet that you can’t switch the light off, and then the ghost switches it off as proof that it can hear, see and sense us,” she added.
According to Johnson, ghosts can’t talk so their presences are seen or heard and mostly felt by strange things happening around one’s space.
Imagine how uncomfortable an uninvited and invisible guest can make you feel. For a fact, most people do not believe in these kinds of incidences but the presence of spirits is felt and their actions witnessed by people like Johnson and her team.
SPITSA investigators say that it is not always the case where a ghost is there to scare you, “sometimes it might be just a kid, you can tell by the sound,” said SPITSA investigator, Shaun Hart.
He also said that a child ghost may throw things around because it is playing and may have a relationship or connection with your kids than you. In one of their investigation, SPITSA encountered a child ghost. They recalled how naughty and friendly the spirit was.
“When I set on the couch I could feel the couch spin and something scratched my hands,” said the house owner in Johannesburg who called SPITSA. Upon arrival even Johnson herself had something scratch her hands too and from her wealth of experience as far as sprits are concerened, she knew that there was something there.
The house owner said that people called her family crazy whenever they shared their ordeal and because of that, they had to relocate. “We ended up moving from the house, there is peace in our new home,” she said.
Investigator Shaun Hart also highlighted that in some case imagining these paranormal activities are a possibility but remained adamant that most of their investigation have proved otherwise. “But in most cases it is not just imagination,” Shaun said.
Amongst the black population the existence of spirits is not a foreign act. Most of them believe it is the work of witchcraft. Some even say ghosts are souls of dead people who can’t find a place to rest after they die thus grunts around to get attention from those of the family who are still alive to help it find peace.
It is generaly believed that ghosts are associated with certain cultures. This, however, is not the case as far as SPITSA is concerned. “No it is not a thing of colour, ghosts are everywhere. Even SPITSA is made up off mostly white staff,” said Mitch Tuba.
In most cases SPITSA conclude their investigations of haunted stories by finding proof that there are paranormal activities but at times they fail to explain some of the things that happen during their investigation, they can only say that whatever was there, was a friendly presence of some sort.
Arriving at a conlusion to disceadit or credit the existence or non existance of ghosts is an inexplicable enigma. Their existence is a thing that may be strange to some people but some have lived and shared the same space with them. If you are anxious and want to confirm your doubts, you should consider being part of SPITSA, they are likely to take you with open arms because to them, “Anyone can be a ghost buster”.
