Warming hearts through music

Medical doctor by profession but turned musician, is not only healing people with medicine, but also through his angelic vocals
Born and raised in Shoemansdal near Komatipoort in Mpumalanga, the 25-year-old doctor and musician Dr Senzo Tshuma (also known as Dr Bae) continues to shine in the music industry. He recently won artist of the year award for the 031 Awards which took place a few days ago.
“I feel so honoured and excited. The fact that there are people who appreciate what I do really touches me. I feel encouraged to do more and go after my passion like never before.”
2020 has been a tough year for artists with many pleading with government to release the artists relief fund. Dr Bae said the pandemic has had a very bad impact on artists.
“It has really affected a lot, I miss being on stage and performing. Going out and hustling with my team. There are plans that I had for 2020 that got delayed and changed because of this pandemic.”
He also added that winning the 031 award as artist of the year has been his biggest career highlight so far.
Having two demanding careers to your name can never be easy and needs time and a little bit of going an extra mile.
“It is really hard but the love I have for what I do keeps going. At the end of the day if you are born to do something, sacrifice is part of the journey. I sometimes have to use my off days from the hospital to work on my music and I find less time to rest and have fun.”
When asked which one he would choose between being a doctor and an artist, he said he couldn’t choose between his “God’s given gifts”.
“I really can’t choose between the two, because Dr Senzo is a brand that incorporate both worlds and motivates people to go after their God given gifts even though they are in an academic field.”
People should expect to see more of Dr Senzo’s new music and collaborations. He also has a clothing brand called Dr Senzo merchandise and also wants to motivate young people by sharing what he has learned in the industry.
