WELCOME TO MAX’S LIFESTYLE

By: Samukelisiwe Mkhwebane
Max’s Lifestyle is Durban’s most beloved hip and happening economic hub, and lies in the heart of Umlazi Township.
It has a very urban vibe to it, and everyone appears to be busy and in a rush, very frantic place where one can get away from it all and just take some time out.
Max’s Lifestyle is a lavish double story establishment that draws you in with its relatively large parking space, almost as if the road leads you right to it. At the entrance, you are greeted by two large men who perform a quick search on you for potential weapons. The place boasts a very intimate setup that allows for social interaction during your experience.
A stretch-tent covers the area to protect customers from excessive sun and rain. The jazzy house music delivered from the DJ booth nearby gives the Max’s Lifestyle experience a soundtrack.
Noleen Mahaya, from Clermont, said that she prefers Max’s lifestyle because people who go there are mature and sophisticated. You immediately position yourself in that kind of manner and are expected to be at your best behaviour to impress,” she added.
The bar and butchery are strategically placed to provide one with the ultimate kasi bar and grill experience. The bar serves all kinds of drinks from soft drinks to premium beer and spirits. Be warned though- the status of the place as a renowned local tourist attraction and celebrity destination pushes the price of drinks up.
Umlazi resident, Thanda Mbhele, enjoys going to Max’s Lifestyle because of the celebrities that come there on a regular basis. “The security there is also tight unlike other clubs in surrounding townships,” she gushed.
The butchery offers a variety of meat prepared braai style by the staff. Once the meat is done, it is served to you in traditional Zulu style, on a wooden platter with a knife for you to cut it the way you like it.
Once you have acquired your meat and drinks, enjoy the Max’s Lifestyle experience and mingle with new people while you enjoy relaxing music and let your hair down.
