COMMEMORATING 67 MINUTES OF MANDELA DAY

By: Mhleli Mkhize
Former President Nelson Mandela might be gone but his legacy of kindness lives on as people worldwide are looking forward to honouring the Madiba 67 minutes.
The Nelson Mandela International Day was launched on 18 July 2009 in recognition of Mandela’s birthday through an agreed decision of the United Nations General Assembly. Despite being jailed for most of his life, Madiba transformed his life, served his country and believed in equal rights for all.
Mandela Day is a world-wide call to action for citizens to do something good for someone else for 67 minutes. The Durban University of Technology students share their plans of what they will do for their 67 minutes of Madiba.
